Hi Guys

Looking at buying my first SUP and am really interested in a Nalu 10"10 for a few reasons.
I live in Toowoomba and am going to be doing some paddling on local dams, I want to eventually throw a sail on the thing and learn to windsurf but I am also an avid surfer.

Have found a bunch of info on the ability of this board to paddle well and also windsurf well but have no idea what it perfoms like in the surf.

Wondering if the channels will make it a total pig to turn. How would it handle compared to one of the more longboard shaped Nalu boards (like the 11'4).

My other options are the other Model Nalu's or a JP Fusion 10.2

My wife has Nalu 10'10 , and I've taken to surfing it in smaller waves , or more longboardy conditions.

Its definitely a more on the cruising side of an allrounder , but it is very surfable once you adapt a little. It has almost zero nose rocker so you need to watch for submarining the nose on later takeoffs. It turns fine off the tail , but if you're not turning it off the tail , it will not want to turn . Once it's up and going it's quite fast down the line - very fast in fact . It also picks up waves early and momentum easily - it's very fast through the water. It's way faster through the water than my Fanatic All-wave.

One thing that I have found is you definitely want to be taking off in surfboard stance so you can adjust weight shift quickly back when you need to, I didn't like parallel take-offs on it.

I'm heavier than you , and its a very stable board. I've surfed it to head high , and even in some beach break conditions and its been a lot of fun.

So I would buy it for 60/40 cruise surf , if you're going to be more surfing there are probably better options like the 10'6 Nalu . At 88kg you wouldn't need a surfboard that long , but you will really like it for cruising.
