New board, progressing from naish 10 mana

Hi all,

Can I have some help on my next board purchase?

Current board - 2014 naish 10 mana
Weight - 98 kgs
Fitness- good
Sup surfing - 3 months
Normal surfing - 24 years


I am finding the mana a bit limiting in the surf and also find it really heavy to carry.
I'm not sure I'm ready to go for a hokua but want something in between. I still want to have a very stable board so I can still enjoy paddling and standing out back waiting for waves. I just want something lighter that doesn't feel like surfing on a shipping container when doing cut backs.

Hokua X32, if you have a surfing background , you wil love it.

Haha!!

I knew that would be the response flowmaster and DJ!

The x32 hokua is right at the top of my list but wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions. The reviews and feedback are all positive but I was wondering if there was a similar shape to the X32 but with a little wider nose ( for increased stability) and a little less rocker ( for getting through fat sections)

Just go for the one on top of the list,

I waited a long time for mine, but I'm so glad now that I didn't go for another board.

The 9'10 & 9'5 Hokuas would be a perfect next step.

Ok.

2 questions

1. What is more stable for paddling and waiting between the x32 9'1" and the standard hokua 9'5 ?

2. Is there any recommendations other than naish for a rippable comfortable/stable board??

I think the new 9'1''x32 Hokua is more stable.

You really should demo the new 9'5'' Mana.. It's such an awesome board.. and very different to your 10' Mana.

It was a gamble living over here, no Hokua's 32 before april 28, reading about it on the forum, looking at the rails, the outline ect. pre ordering a board wich you can't check out properly.
Would 32 inches work, would it effect the rail to rail to much, would it be corky or not.
I only can tell, this board rocks, so when you have te chance, demo, I think you wil be pleased.

Ok I'm sold. I'll keep the 10 mana and get a x32. I'm pretty sure I'll love it. Just thought some people would have some input on the stability of other brands. I know a bit about naish but what about jp wide boy or starboard or fanatic or anything else!!!

I rode the Starby 8'2" Widepoint once. Recently I tried a 8'3" X32. I found the X32 more stable and better/more fun to surf. I've also tried the Starby Pocket Rocket. Thats a very fun board too. Liked it better than the 8'2" Widepoint. Haven't tried a JP Wide though. Had a 9'2" JP Surf Pro though. Its one board I wish I never sold. Very stable, light, paddles longer than its 9'2" length and just surfs awesome!!

I'm going to demo the jp 9'6" surf pro at the end of this week. Local shop just put one into demo cos they have them on sale. I have heard they were pretty good. What's your thought on x32 vs jp surf?

Try the JP Surf Wide body, I'm 110 kgs and somehow managed to stand on the 8'8 and then catch an actual wave........

Then buy a JP 9'8 Fusion Pro and you will be in love...........

They're completely different beasts. X32 boards are for smallish and mushy waves. The JP surf range are useable in any conditions but I found they really "come alive" in cleaner/bigger surf. Both are very good though.
