I was looking for ages for a Starboard 8.10 but it was sold out, the moment I decided that I wanted a Angulo Surfa9.0 a friend who I tipped on those boards had bought the last one ...and then, bought today a as good as new hardly used 2th hand 8.10 Widepoint

Question: The board got 5 boxxes and for of them are FCS.
At Standupzone I found lots of threads about Future Quads but only a very little info about FCS..

Does any one had experience/advice what fins to buy to run the board as Quad?
As I have a windsurfbackground so have no clue about surfing fins.
The board comes standard with M5.5 front and a 17cm back fin

I,m 90-92kg and use the board in anything from Canary Islands to France as well weak soft mushy slow waves.
Overhead: seldom.

I have played around with a number of fin configurations for my 8'10" wide point. Best overall have been the FCS Q-PC7 quads... just the right combination of drive,hold and turn-ability without being too "skatey".

Have also used the FCS MR-TFX twins alone up front...very turny but tough to keep the board straight AND also tried the MR's with the PC7 rears as a quad, decent drive and hold in the bigger surf but too stiff turning. Used the MR's with the 170 center fin as a Tri and actually liked it in the bigger surf and chop found I had an easier time paddling straight and staying up when conditions were poor.

FCS also makes a Gerry Lopez quad set but I'd guess at your weight that's way too much fin. I'm 100 kg and found 5.5 fronts and 4.5 rears really slowed the board down and made turning tougher in the smaller surf.

But you said you weren't going to buy a new board so I thought it was OK


The Surfa 9'0 is cool, but Angulo gets the "What were they thinking?"-award for the pad. It's at least 10cms too narrow and really heavy, so the first thing I needed to do was fix that. Other than that, it's great.

I've been looking at Stretch fins (affordable and good, MagicSeaweed has them), Gerry Lopez quad edition and a few others that come in Futures only.

The Q PC7 set is in the house, thanx for the help!
