A friend borrowed my 10'6" board and clocked one of he fins damaging the rear insert. I carefully araldited it back in, sanded it back - much to my horror the araldite softened in the surf over the last month and I am sure some water has got in as it feels heavier and the balance is to the rear when lifted by the handle slot.

I will now take it to a surf shop as I should have from the start. I want to make sure it is 100% dry, happy to take as much time as I need too as I love the board and I have just bought a SA 10' carrier to play with.

I used the vacuum trick for a second hand board that had a micro hole that the owner did not see, and it works wonder.

You need to have another hole in the board (ideally far away from the other). Unscrewing the decompression vent will be OK, if you do not have one, well it is a good opportunity to add one.

A vacuum cleaner will overheat in minutes. I had to apply it only 2 minutes at a time. You can also leave holes in your attachment to let air in to reduce pressure. It is OK for some days, but for weeks or months if the water has settled extensively, you want to find some other less powerful pump.
