agreed---my 2015 all wave ltd had serious paint bond issues---the slightest touch with the paddle caused chipping---pricey board looked like crap very quickly---too bad, bc i like the board lots, just looks like a beater now
that said the paint on my starby's is much better bonded and durable--prolly got more sessions on th starby and it looks like new compare to the AW
word is fanatic has dealt with this--who knows? i just ordered a sunova acid
Interesting that Fanatic has more of an issue than Starboard seeing as they are both made at the Cobra factory so would be due to the paint specs that the brands get Cobra to use.
I have had loads of windsurfing boards and SUP boards over the years and wonder if the osmosis issue might more for SUPs than windsurf boards? I have hardly ever bothered to dry my windsurf boards off and had only one Starboard windsurf board suffering osmosis and paint bubbles.
I wipe my boards down with a towel to get the main water off. The deck pad is still going to be damp when I put it in a bag. I make sure the bag is unzipped so water can evaporate rather than slowly steam the board inside the bag.
Good choice on the Acid! It is a very well made board and I don't even bother with rail tape as it doesn't seem to scratch and/or the paint work on the rail disguises the scratches.
