I've had 2 or 3 of them and not had a problem.. I know about half a dozen friends with them and none have had a problem.. But it is a relitivly long and thin board so at my weight (almost 100kgs) I wouldn't want to fall into it.. I have heard of someone breaking one but he was really charging on it in big'ish surf.. Just wondering how heavy are you?

Had my 2014 Nalu GT out for the first time (in awhile) a few weeks ago, and have been taking it out each session ever since. Forgot how good it was. Long boards with plenty of glide make SUP'ing so much fun. The rail paint chips quite easily, but that's only cosmetic. No dramas apart from that..

I'm also 100kg. I've been riding an 9 5 Allwave for the past year or so and am very happy with it, but I think it's time to move on to something less "boxy". Part of me would like to move on to a SUP with more of a short board orientation, but I know my limitations (age being one of them) and really like the idea of a more 'stylish' ride. I expect it will take a little time to get used to a narrower board, but I noted from one of your other posts that I should not take too long to get used to this. Thanks again for your feedback.

Thanks also JoffaDan and Rodriguez, with all these responses I'm feeling that the Nalu 10 6 will be a really good option for me. Does anyone windsurf their Nalu?

I am not sure. I found out that with some age (55), I cannot go too narrow: I do not have the quick reflexes for it. Short (6'8") and low volume (100l for my 100kg) is OK, but narrower than 28" is doable but not fun, especially with pointed nose & tail.

What I say is that, in my experience, with some age going too narrow is perhaps doable but can be a real fun-killer.

Did you have a look at the Sunova Style

I've had a quick look at the Sunova and think they look like a very light, strong board with a great shape, but if I'm looking for a board I can put a sail on it may not fit the bill.

Almost all Sunova boards have a mast insert, including the Style and the Surf.

The boards I heard had a problem was the Naish Nalu LE 10' 0"
I liked the look of them and they ride really well performance wise.
I was going to buy one but was warned they had issues cracking/breaking mainly in larger surf.

I have a Naish Nalu GT 10' 6" which was my first board and still no problems but I dont windsurf it.

I have seen one of the early 10'6" Nalu of a friend break in 2 places in 1-foot (knee high) hollow surf.

But it has been repaired and had no more issues afterwards (or before). Also my friend was a beginner at the time.

Basically, if you let a long board get in the wrong place at the wrong time, it will break, whatever the construction, and may destroy the brand reputation locally as a side effect. Stronger construction will lower the odds of course, and since no warranty will work, you want to rely more in getting your board out of harm way than on the construction.

That's heartbreaking Tardy, must have been a monster wave. Yes, I'm also thinking of the GT as the best option for me, so hopefully won't end up with the same outcome.

As I consider myself a small wave specialist I don't think I'll be getting out in 5-6 ft surf, so, again, it seems like everyone is pointing towards an 11ft GT.

JB made the most honourest explanation in another post ie not all boards are bullet proof or even bomb proof so I guess that includes Naish.
My experience validates this as I have mentioned previously.
