I checked out NSP's first stand up paddle board yesterday and took these pictures.

It looks pretty good for a budget priced board..and even comes with an adjustable paddle (the paddle had not arrived so I've got no pics of it).

The shape looks good..and very surfboard looking..nice rocker and nose lift..round soft rails that get very sharp towards the tail.

The full length deck grip is a nice touch..but it looks pretty smooth..I'm sure it's grippy when wet but I rather a bit more roughness or texture...I'll suss that out when I take it for a paddle (one day soon I hope)..It has a nice hand hole for carrying..It's not heavy but I don't think it's as light as the Naish.

Considering it comes with a paddle, deck grip and even leg rope it's great value for someone just getting into SUP.

My old NSP (11'x26" mal that I used as a SUP board) was a bit flexy and sort of wobbled when I hit chop but with this board being a bit wider and thicker it may not do it..I'll also suss that out when I paddle it.

At first I thought the two holes in the deck for securing the side fins looked a bit rough but after looking through the fins and stuff that comes with it I noticed there is two plugs that fill those holes.

The bottom shape looks a bit like my mal old being slightly rolled or with belly with slight v in the tail..It will be interesting to see how wobbly it is and how fast it is to paddle.

Here's some more pictures...btw..it's 11' x 31" wide...It should be perfect for a beginer to learn on..or even a bigger person as an all rounder..

Hey DJ,

Is the board a plastic skin finish, or is it Epoxy. It looks epoxy in these photo's, unlike their previous boards. Let us know if you get a test on it.

Looks like a great entry pack for that price.......can't wait to hear a review on it. I know a couple of people who are only apprentices which would be interested at that price.

The NSP web site talks about a clear ballistic top sheet with a polished finish. Sounds like a polished plastic skin over the epoxy.

Had a look at the 11' tonight next to the bonga and the deck pad is exactly the same material on the two of them just different colors.

Also heard a rumour that maybe they are pulling the paddle out of the deal knocking $100 off the board and offerring 50% off the the composite GSI paddle.

First thing to do for anyone that got one would be get the FCS adapters for the side fins and chuck the plastic ones away. I had the 9'2" NSP mal a few years ago and the side fins were dogs.

i did the same thing with the fins on my kiteboard the north rocket fish fins were the hard plastic ones that they have now changed

got the nsp fcs adapter for $20 and slotted in my slater fcs fins

rides so much better on a wave

looser off the top from more flex in the fin

not stiff and lifeless

DJ

how long is the leggy? it looks short

a guy i bought my boards off tried to sell me 10 foot leggie saying it was standard

i laughed and said that both boards were longer than that and would have a chance of smashing you by not having clearance

cause they would need to be at least 12 foot so you would be clear of the board if it spun around or to run up the nose for a nose ride

every thing went silent

you should have seen the look on the guys face priceless lol..

dogman

the 12 foot fcs leggies i ended up getting have done the job

i think one is now 13 1/2 foot now haha

Sorry dogman no insult intended on the "the fins were dogs" comment

Yeah on the mal you could feel them drag and were really stiff in the turns as you say.

The NSP's are tough and hold their resale pretty well, but I found I grew out of it pretty quick.

The 11' SUP does look nice though.

JB, I don't know...It didn't feel like my old NSP..(it was a matt finish)..this was more gloss like the Kalama..and felt very plastic'y..This is the stamp on the bottom.
