After regularly questionning the difference after-market fins could make to a SUP for the layman - I now find I have to eat humble pie! Just back from a stint in Bali riding an 8'7 Kwad. The comparison to a friend's here is like chalk & cheese, therefore, I am seeking some advice. I have had a 9' MacT for the last 2+ years set up as a quad with the fins supplied. I am 75kg (& almost the same in years). Any suggestions for fin type/set-up to improve performance would be most appreciated.

I recently bought a C4 MR Pro 9'2" and ride it with a quad set up. I found that it was really skatey especially on the bottom turn with the original fins. The problem went away totally after replacing them with Gerry Lopez FCSs. I had also used then on a Coreban 9' and found the difference between them and the original like chalk and cheese. Well worth the cost of upgrading! Cheers

it's well worth the $100-150 you spend on a decent set of fins when you notice the diference performance wise to the cheap plastic fins
piros said it in his receent vid about fins, its a shame to see people spend 2k on a board but be to stingey to spend 100 on a good set of fins- or something along those lines

If you are spending $1600+ on a sup then you should be getting "first rate" fins that dont need upgrading.
Some people constantly bang on about upgrading fins because:
1. they get fins cheap/free
2. they have too much money
3. they cant ride their sup properly and are looking for excuses for their lack of ability.
Ok - as for your 9.0 McT - they work well with MR (or a generic version) up front and SX or similar in the rear. (obviously a quad setup)
I am no fan of quads on sups, but this particular board is better set up as above.
