Talk about a match made in heaven.. I threw down for a Mako 37 for my wife's JL Stiletto.. FKNA! . The stock JL hatchet fin was ok for flat glass, but for anything messy and/or mixed up cross chop, it was poor. Its large surface area down deep gave unwanted feedback in quartering wind and waves, and when down winding (or even down breezing..) it caused unpredictable broaching.

Enter the Mako.. It is extremely fast, and displays no bad attitude in any conditions. Two thumbs up!

(Note: I paid full pop for this carbon work of art, and have nothing to gain by giving it glowing props.. )

The FX has a quite a bit of tail rocker, so maybe it would need the 44 instead of teh 37 :-)

Yes VMG do rudders for Bullets and Unlimiteds. They also do rudders for prone paddlers like M2O champ Brad Gaul. Recently Tingy has been working with sponsored riders James Casey and Terrene Black doing rudders for their custom unlimiteds.

The Team guys are testing a new smaller fin. There has been a move toward smaller fins for downwinding and technical racing.

There is a handful of custom built unlimited rudders that I have built, and we're looking into getting a production run done.

NNSUP is correct, the last M2O that Gauly won on a prone, was a full prepreg blade and carbon shaft rudder. It weighed 65 grams.

Is there any chance we could get a look at the unlimited fins that you've done for the guys?

My SIC Unlimited Bullet could definitely did with something more raked to shed the weed here in WA - thinking for The Doctor especially!

Kieran is correct on the weed fin. At KOC last year weed was an issue for the guys on unlimiteds. Kissa and Tingy had a long discussion about it and since then we've looked at options for customers at WindsurfnSnow. The deflector seems to be the best option. It works for the skis and SIC actually have a deflector as a fin accessory. ( Though difficult to get hold of in Oz)
