Just some thoughts from the other side. Not the retailer in this case just the middle man sick of seeing the brand and the supplier panned.

Your vast experience on the water and in the industry doesn't automatically give you vast experience on a SUP. You like everyone else must go through a learning curve where stuff can and will happen. Sometimes responsibility falls closer to home than you might want to believe.

Paddles, knees, heavy feet, waves and many other things could have caused the damage on your board. In the sessions you hit the water did you or your wife never fall? Well done if you didn't but falling is part of SUP and it does happen.

I've been paddling a few years now and still fall in stupid ways and when damage does occur it has always been done by me, sandbanks, pitching waves in the middle of boards and paddles connecting with decks and rails. Not always in decent surf, often in 1 ft shories trying for one last hit in the shallows. Stuff has happened to my kit out there that I haven't noticed until quite a while later but this doesn't mean I didn't do it.

Lastly in Windgenuity's defense an offer of repair was made out of goodwill last Monday only one day after getting the sales receipt. This repair was to be paid out of their pockets for Matt as his case was not deemed a warranty by Naish due to impact damage. Pretty good of them.

This receipt took 8 days to turn up after it was requested making processing the claim in the mean time impossible. In this time though the case was very well aired on quite a few forums. Didn't see this mentioned on line though.

Thumbs up, thumbs down. Whatever. Just remember that shouting loudly doesn't always make something right.

Sam-the offer was made yesterday-not last week.

There's a bunch of other issues with what you've posted-they're better off addressed off the forum.

This is publicly avialble information - Wind Surf n Snow is owned by Balmoral Boardsailing School Pty Ltd the owner of Windgenuity and the Australian importer/distributor of Naish - your views on this issue should no doubt be viewed in that light.

Naish's position on the warranty claim is based upon Adam's (from Windgenuity) view/opinion of the defect.

The crack, like Jun's board, did not result from impact-it's a fault in the board.

Just thought I'd chip in a view.

I've owned my Naish 10'6 from new for about one year now and I've been fortunate enough not to experience any problems with it (touch wood). It's great in the flat water, even better in the surf. I recently reapplied my Creatures of Leisure grip, and the laminate on the deck is in tact with little to no heel or foot impressions. It must the luck of the draw.

I have absolutely brutalised my board (not naish) head butting it , elbows , knees , paddle , massive over the falls on big days , I've put heaps of depressions in it but never cracked it and when I replaced the deck grip the damage under it was minimal and other Naish owners on this site have done the same with the same results so why is Loco's board not even girl proof ?

Whether this is a product fault or not it has been handled badly and a good lesson for anybody in the industry how not deal with a new customer with what seems to be a very legitimate complaint.

Just to be clear. Is the board we are talking about with the alleged design fault one with the wooden deck inlay? I kinda lost track along the way and would hate to mischaracterize all boards of the brand.

I wasnt going to comment on this post as I thought old mate "loco" was having a bit of a "crack" at me last week when he misintrepted my post But thank God that post is dead and buried

I think he has every right to comment on here when he has forked out and brought a product he thinks is faulty, and he should get his money back or a replacement board.
If anyone goes on standup zone and followed "the days of our lives" saga about the pope ticect, I almost laugh whenever I see one of there products advertised and think to myself what a dodgy company

Saying that I personally think Naish are quality boards and maybe his is a one off dud.
If you wanna see a thrashed board thats still going awesome with no cracks, just heaps of dings and dents from me abusing it and treating it like ** ,come check out my 9 6" naish its a quality product

my 9'6 snapped on my 6th surf on it and it was in 3 to 4 foot

all it takes is one wave to hit it in a way that the board doesn't like it and sh@t happens

i love my 10'6 even with its cute little crack and 10 second sun cure epoxy fix job

i've creased my Naish 9'6 twice, once through the middle and once across the nose, but with 2 x Polsey repair jobs it's now even stronger, the only thing left to crease is somewhere down near the fins....and it also has 2 small cosmetic white crease lines in the top coat on the deck near the rail on one side.

but it's all good, it's had a good life and it still surf's unreal!!! (even though now it's my backup board) and i still take it out on a regular basis.

money well spent in my opinion

I repair all forms of surfcraft made of all types of materials, from OZ and around the world. EVERY board/brand will have it's occasional faults as they are made by humans. 10% is the norm. Everyone has seconds, everyone is constantly improving their range and quality. There has NEVER been so many different types of construction in the surfcraft industry as there is today. If this sport is so bad, choose another. As for brands and quality, it's a free country, and we can all choose to ride what we like. Don't we love that???

PS. Ride whatever you like, Just get THE DING SHOP to repair it! HAHA, this is a joke.
But not really.
Im serious.

Yeah Polsy has put my 9-10 back together a couple of times , if you are looking to get your SUP shorty or cluby board fixed he's your man (just behind KFC at Miami)

He can also give you an unbiased opinion on your board if you have a problem with it.
