Here's a pic that I took at the start of our down-winder last week.

Dave with his 16' DC, Jonathan with his 14' Pene and me with my 12' Naish. (actually it's the SHQ demo Glide)

It's amazing how calm and glassy it looks even though the wind was gusting 20+ knots dead offshore.

It's looking good again for this Saturday.. (15/8/09) .. Is anyone keen?

DJ

Forecast for Saturday
Winds: Northerly 15 to 20 knots tending north to northwesterly 20 to 25 knots
during the morning then tending northerly 20 to 30 knots during the evening.

The obvious question is .. who had the most fun? Who caught the most runners?

You don't need a big board to do a down-winder and have fun.

To start with when the waves were small the 12' Glide was flying and catching heaps of runners.. and there was not much in it between the different boards.

The rougher it got the more the bigger boards handled it.. We crossed the finish line all together but Dave on his big 16' DC did it the easiest I'm sure..

dj, i went for a paddle on a 12'6" yesterday, thinking not liking the way the chop{from boats) was throwing the board around. then when i turned to hit the shore, i probably got one of my best runs i've ever had. i think it was 1/2 swell and 1/2 boat wake something really good about getting a run on a mostly planning board
cheers

How many sleeps until the 14' comes DJ? Are you getting the epoxy or AST?

I've ordered the all white epoxy.. I heard that white is faster than yellow..

Maybe I should have ordered the yellow AST.. because I hear they're here next week.. and the all white ones are due a week or two after that.

I heard the other day that most of the first shipment is already sold. I don't mind the look of the yellow edge around the AST, a fair bit of difference in price too.....IMO
