Yep Winters gone and we still have great swell in Vic.

If you were lucky enough to mark the start of Spring with a session in the water.....share it here. Share the Stoke!!!!

I just had a session at PRK with Glen and Dean riding in at the boatramp, 3' , and then a few more out the back of the point 6'. Glen got a screamer from out the back. Never seen him go so fast.
There was a bombie breaking out to the left of the point that I have never seen break before. (a 12' gun would be interesting)
Had lots of waves and great to share the day with a couple of mates.
Still wearing steamer and hood but it was great fun.

Not so much swell here in Sydney but nice little waves nonetheless. Had good fun 3-4 foot yesterday in boardies and a vest Not bad for last day of Winter.

Had a fun session this morning on the Goldy. Beautifull sunny day, no wind, only 2 foot but I had it all too myself. That doesn't happen very often up here and reminds me why I like sup so much.

Hi Dave
The new board (9X32) has been out in up to 5ft PRK. It goes really well and does everything I expected of it - Shorter but not harder to ride. It is probably easier to ride than my 10footer. Love the stability. Performance on the waves has been excellent. No surprises!
It has never felt too short, too long or too wide! I cannot see any improvements and I suspect I will use it for the next 12 months no problems.

Great to see other people on this thread enjoyed Spring Day 1

I had a couple of ripping sessions today.....First one was this morning in abay-big, thick and bumpy. Although the wind had died down, the swell still had some bump to it but it was super fun.

Then, on the way back to Melbourne this afternoon, I was wishing I wouldnt have been by myself as every nook and cranny between abay and lorne was pumping. In fact, I wish I would have surfed the outer point at Kennett River as it was glassy and probably around 6-8'.

Ended up at Damiens and it didnt really look that great. Then I got out back and noticed about every 15 minutes a nice set was coming in between the break way out to the right (past where I have seen Dean surfing) and the break just to the right of the rocks. I sat outside, was patient, and caught 4-5 waves that were all probably the biggest I have caught on a sup...Probably 2-3' bigger than last Sat Phil! The tide was just rolling in and a cross shore wind kicked up for a bit so I think it all combined to make things just right for me!

And, to top that off, I had the place to myself for the first 45 minutes until a longboarder paddled out and sat a couple of hundred metres inside of me. He was cool enough to give me some hoots on a couple of waves that I linked to the inside section-which was screaming..........Yep, all this on the ole Naish 11'4 but it would have been a great day for the 9'6 and some larger fins me thinks.

So yeah, pretty stokin' kind of day! I could do with a bit more winter at this point............

Hey stndup, never tried that outer break at kennett it always looks too big for me. On a big day the tow in guys surf that spot, unbelievable. Have you tried the spot halfway between Kennett and wye point, sort or an outer reef that picks the swell up for 100 meters before it dies in a gutter. its where the road runs right next to the shore, there's a car park where Eurotrash backpackers crap on the beach and Indian tourists play cricket before trying to drown themselves. Theres two breaks there one a little further to Wye,where the wave is very thick and fast but still catchable

is that sheoak falls or grey river or something like that? Either way, no I havent surfed them...........I am typically on my own and wouldnt want to paddle most of those places by myself. Saying that, I am keen to try some of these spots when they are firing. Today would have been good as the tide was full and the waves were big, but not necessarily pitching. I reckon on a SUP you could have gotten in good. It'd be good to catch up for a paddle some day.........I am in Abay quite often.

If you see the 71 Landie with "STNDUP" plates, drop on in!

Cheers,
Ronnie

Hey Ronnie,

You looked like you were killing it on the 11'4 last weekend. I saw you catch one from outside the point all the way to the beach.

When you paddled back out I thought your face was going to split you smiled so much.

It is a really cool vibe surfing with you guys.

right back at ya Phil! Yeah, I enjoy the vibe of supsurfing with some mates on a beautiful day when the waves are working. It was kind of funny-on two of the waves I caught from outside, there were only two people dropping in on me.........yep, you guessed it-You and Kristi! I thought it was funny that everyone else had just "cleared the runway" so to speak.

Hope all is well-Ronnie

You lucky bugger Dale, missed it by 24 hours.

DJ,
I had a look at your new board in the Mayor of PRK shed Sat. Look the goods.
Also had a quick paddle on Dale's Sat and very impressed.
Couldn't believe the weight of Dean's boards. I reckon the Major is right on the button with his shapes.

Hey Ronnie,
great to catch up on Sat.
As OG said, it was great to spend a few hours with fellow sweepers that were out there enjoying themselves.

Right on Ian! Let me know next time you are coming over and I will make sure to catch up for a paddle...........I wont forget that first wave you took off on after telling me "I havent surfed much"..........Yeah right, it was a solid 2' over your head (albeit you and I arent the tallest of fellas).
