I'm in. Anyone in the northern suburbs want to share lifts? Leave one car at the finish and drive the other back to the start. I'm in Karrinyup.

I tried paddling up towards the Leftbank from Pt Walter a few weeks ago, the wind venturis through there big time, I struggled (gave up) on 8-10knts SW
Heres hoping for glassy conditions, or NE, E tailwinds.

An incoming tide can make it tougher as well. Not sure if this is the case in that Sunday morning.

The tide is a small high ending about the same time as the race starts so there shouldn't be too much movement. Due to the S shape of the river at this point there is always a slacker piece of water. If the breeze is in it channels down the east side more.
Still toying with the idea of getting a dedicated cruising/race board but I don't think I'll have it by then.
The trusty 11'2 will have to do.

Luke, I'll keep you company, I'll be on the old favourite 11'2" also. What race board are you looking at getting?

Still not sure hawkie.
I tried the 12'6 Pin but I think it may have issues out in the open ocean. Great on the river but.
Am yet to try the JL and Naish.
Not sure if I should go out of the 12'6 size or not.
Will be good to catch up with other Breezers.

I had a paddle up Margaret River last week on a jl 12'6" which was great, apparently they are bringing out a 14' race board sometime.

I want to know if Nils (Mr Renault) is racing? It just would not be the same without him.....So if anybody sees him here or on the windsurfing site please let him know there are a few suppers wanting to know whether he is a man or a mouse and racing his sup with the rest of us?

I would suggest the latter, but he might surprise me

I see that the SUPs start at Pt Walter at 9.30am. Means its a 4 km paddle.

Phew, the thought of 15kms had me sweating (and piking).

Carefull Hilly
Copey on a 10'8 would be like a normal sized person on a 17 footer
He's not very competitive though!!

Fair point I would be on a 12 to his 10 6 and have a couple of years paddling on him might be fun

Are most people still planning on going sunday?
It'll be good to put faces to names.

At this stage I'm on - I'm interested to see how my 12' starboard aircraft carrier performs against the 11'2" cruiser class.

I have trained: I interrupted my surfing on Tuesday to paddle 200m off shore and back again. Hope that sets me up for the 4 kms (although still a bit stiff and sore)!

I will be there.
Just upgraded to a Glide. The way things are looking at work the race may be its maiden voyage.

Keen to hear what you think of the glide. Did you get rid of the 11'2"?

No I will be keeping the 11'2. Its too good an allrounder to let go.
I just have to look at offloading some surfboards to get some room in the shed. Feel free to have a go on the Glide on sunday Hawky

From the event rules

"Paddle Craft Equipment
Personal Flotation Device - PFD
160 It is recommended that all competitors wear a PFD."..(not compulsory)

for those who think they need it??????

So only recommended.....what about a legrope...board becomes your flotation device?
mind you it might slow you down on the turns if you "are going for it"..me ...haven't got a competitive bone in my body........nows wheres my low drag/wind tunnel tested wetsuit clip on farings?
