Noticed a few for sale in the for sale section at bargain basement prices , which gets me thinking is their something wrong with these boards? Their is a 12,6 x 25 for under $1500 bucks which seems like a pretty sweet deal. Some unbiased views please on how these perform in all conditions , can they be surfed?

Thanks

Team riders upgrading to 2014 stock.

I can't comment on the 12'6" but worth noting Beau had the choice of his 2013 and 2014 models at nationals in the BOP race and he went with the 2013 given the wild conditions on the day.

Yeah they are a pretty good board they do a bit of everything and DW paddle pretty good as well. $1500 is about right and is what we have them for in the shop at the moment.

Beau seemed to surf it pretty good it's more just getting used to the sunken deck on the board and stepping up hill with your back foot but as with anything it's just time on the board and it will feel like normal.

I have mine for sale but not on here (sorry Laurie) for $1000. I have used it on average 4 times a week for the last year for everything (including a trip to the US for Battle of The Paddle) and so has had a fair bit of use. Just like PT said I am upgrading to the new 2014 model and feel for a board that has been used as much as that with a number of repairs which would happen to any board being used that much is a fair price and I can move it on quickly. Sure I could hold out for a few more dollars, but this saves a lot of hassle.

Are there any benefits of the Allstar versus an Ace?

From what I have heard the Ace is quicker and I have seen plenty of people use them in bumps

What am I missing?

It's pretty tricky surfing a wave on an Ace.

The main reason for buying a 12'6" board going forward is BOP racing as flat water, distance and downwind racing is gravitating towards 14' class, at least in Australia. The OP is talking about a 12'6" board and being a Queenslander, presumably he is intending to use the board in BOP conditions. As DJ says above, the Ace is quite challenging in the surf whereas the All Star is built for those conditions.
