Does anybody have the 2018 Naish Hokua X32 GTW in 9"? How does it handle paddling out to sets and choppy water? I believe it is great on surf and really responsive. Problem is I have quite a stretch to paddle out to the surf so just wanted to know how it will handle that. I'm just under 100kgs (in good shape) and an intermediate SUPer.
Hey WCC,
I know you're waiting for a consumer response, but I thought I'd just add my 2c also while you're waiting.
The 9' (9'1") X32 was extremely popular, even to riders that did not really need the volume. AS the entire X32 line are 32" wide, the get slightly straighter in out line as they get longer whilst still keeping the same radical rocker. With this outline comes a more directional paddling and slightly faster paddling speed. It also tends to handle larger and more powerful waves a little better than its shorter sisters. Yawing will be less also then the shorter ones.
All this said, the board is still an aggressive shortboard rocker, and paddling will be similar with this characteristic. But in the scheme of things, for a 9' performance rockered board, it does paddle really well.
Really a great board.
Hope this helps a little until you get some more feedback,
Kind regards,
JB
