It's happening. Will be a couple of years away yet. Council has given in Principal agreement.

Design has started but there are lots of issues to resolve not just the wave pool. It will be. n integrated resort, accommodation, several different water activities, car parking etc etc etc

Actually, that looks like it would be very boring after 3 rides to be honest, and who'd want to pay anyway...

Husq I think you are right I did a quick search and all Qld surf parks look dead in the water but then I found this one on the Webber pool on FB released last month . Really bad video can't believe he has put this out..but there is still life.

Brad I don't agree , I think it would be a great tool especially for backhand kooks like me to master some turns.

More on it here:- Let the ad play you can't skip it (2012)... www.couriermail.com.au/nocookies?a=A.flavipes

Thanks Rob.

Only problem i have with the wavegarden is being worried about surfing towards the structure and possibly crashing into it.

Yeah that was my same thought but if you look really close you will see a net , not sure how good that will work though.

Probably wouldn't get passed the fun police.
Goes against our Nanny state policies

My info is as I stated above, the land is bought, the council is basically on board, architects and engineers are working on preliminary designs and submissions have been made To council.

Whether it is Slater or Webber cannot be said for certain.

Slater and Webber may well be doing one on the Goldy. But wave garden are also developing one there as well. My Neighbour is an engineer working on the proposal and has invested into Wavegarden. He told me that the uk surf park is only operating at about 70% due to the developers cutting a few corners and due to not having enough power to propell the foil had to shave the size of the foil down.

He was saying that there are several under construction around the world with one in Texas opening up next which will show the true potential of the concept.

There's a lot of countries out there that have some big cities that would surely welcome such facilities, yes it may get boring to those that have the luxury of a beach with decent surf around the corner but to those that don't, well I guess we'll have to wait and see.
