Last autumn/winter all of us suppers who supped regularly around Cottesloe (Perth) were familiar with the sight of Eric on his 27"-wide Laird (10' long, I think) pulling off amazing 360 helicos with the greatest of ease
Then he suddenly disappeared ....... word was that he was deported as he overstayed his visa.
I've just found him , thanks to a thread on Standupzone, "what does your SUP carrying vehicle look like?" 12 pages, it's a fun thread: www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php?topic=2629.0
Eric can be found here: www.ericterrien.com/ and if you've always wanted to have a go at a "360 helico", check out his SUP technique page (it's in English)
Bon voyage!!!

whoops Thanks Hilly, fixed now
Been out twice on the river, Sunday & Monday (Monday 'cos sis' wanted to try out her "new" 9'8). Pleasantly surprised that it's actually (for its size) a pretty good flat-water paddler, a little yaw (had the fin just a coupla inches from the front). With J-stroke paddling & wind on my flank I could paddle in a straight line just on the one side.
The NW sprung up while we were out there & I was a little worried that Mandy wasn't going to make it back to shore
Hanging out for Monday, chance of a surf!!!

Recommend you try the fin back where I had it for waves, heaps more drive. It spins out with the 6 inch fin forward as the tail is really wide.

Thanks Andrew!
yeah, I'll put it back to where it was. I can see your point re the short fin in the wide tail.
Fin dilemma: How would a longer fin further forward in the box compare to a shorter fin back in the box? Isn't a shorter fin designed to "loosen up" the board? Doesn't moving the fin forward in the box also loosen up the board?
(only possess one fin so can't do a physical demo, not intending getting another fin before xmas )

Smaller centre fin further back gives you the best of both worlds drivey and loose as the side fins have greater influence overall I think. As Lacey found out in this thread www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=54078

Try heaps what works for me does not necessarily work for you. PSH boards tend to work better with smaller fins though.

Hey Hilly,

The fin at the back of the box on the DC 9.4 gives you heaps more speed and stops the twitch I had this morning.

It makes the board track better when paddling, it drives harder of the bottom and projects better of the top.

You won me.

Phill
