The early part of the video is windy, not quite 40 knots though.

The windy part of this video is early in a maliko run. It's a great video and I'm very happy to see it. However, the last third of a maliko (to the harbor) is when it really gets good. The swells really start to get big on the reefs outside of kanaha. Livio, Connor, Jeremy, Mark and others really start to kill it in those conditions. I can barely keep up with them in my oc-1 early on, but when it gets big, they vanish. Jeremy does it on a 14 foot narrow rudderless board.

It's a great video, thanks to Bill for all the work to shoot and edit it.

Some of the best downwinders I've done in the bay have looked something like that - minus the deep blue water, the sunshine, the beautiful backdrop and the need to wear a wetsuit.

Here is a video that includes footage of well groomed conditions late in a maliko to the harbor run. Randy is catching rights in his canoe, about a mile to go. The wind is probably 20, gusting to 30 and the direction is perfect. Wave heights are probably 10 feet.

True downwind nirvanna only happens a few times a year. The swells are as groomed as these, but much bigger. I missed the last one, but a friend told me he did it on a 12 foot surfboard. He was carving big turns up and down the faces.
