My surf gun is longer than this one.

Yep brooko,
Probally a lot thinner than your mav and maybe less tail rocker. Maybe same same. We we check them all out together. Wait for cam to get his 8'5" and mine glassed and we will put them together and see whats happening. We can go portland or wherever.
Regards,
Scotty

Good one Scotty,
nice flat deck and you kept the deck edgy in the paddling position for stability. The thin surfboard tail thickness looks neat, it should carve real well. I bet you use this board all the time whether its glassy or choppy. They are so much fun to ride.

howdy mick,
its 2 x 3 mm dyvincell with a layer of 4 oz cloth either side.

dyvinicell is a hard foam that is the deck on sandwich boards

Hey Scotty.. I'm not picking.. just saying what's on my mind.. but the nose looks a bit on the thick'ish side.

Is that for a reason.. or for strength.. or just how you like it? .. btw I'm no expert about any of this..

Maybe DJ,
Could be just the photos. Its thinner than my first board I made.

I could have made it thinner. Don't want to do a Tommy Carroll.....

Is that what happened to Tom near the start of the 'Blue Crush' movie? .. or something else?

Not sure if it was surfing for a movie or when but he had a wipe out and the nose of his board did some serious damage to his clacker region and stitches were required. Sounded pretty painful. Those short boards have sharp noses..........

Nah, he was just warming up for a comp in Japan and ended up having to sit on one of those doughnut cushions for some time after.......Particularly in the early days Tom was never a stranger to painful injuries and that was one of his finest!

Spot on nose thickness, the board is around 8 foot and around 4 inches in the mid section. If you go any thinner on the nose it will create a weak point.
I've checked out other custom boards around this length and Scotty's board looks the goods and IMHO it will rock[}:)]
btw.I remember Tom's NASTY mishap[}:)][}:)]

The finish looks really good! Great job Scotty!

8'3" x 4"? Is that going to give you enough volume to float you?
What do you weigh?
