The Allstar do look good and if the Custom Carbon construction is still light and strong like for the 2015 Allstar, the 27" and 25" wide could be very attractive "run of the mill, sure value"boards in the price range.
Hey Luc, I have bought this years (2016) 14 x 28 in the hybrid carbon construction and got to compare the weight with PT's carbon version
on Saturday. Sure the full carbon is lighter but there really isn't all that much in it. I paddled the new 14 x 25 on the downwinder and this year it's a way better board for downwinding, more stable, more forgiving and much more predictable in the way it handles piercing the nose into the wave in front. Somehow seems like a much more mature refined shape. Haven't paddled the 27 inch version but they seemed to handle the varied conditions we had beautifully. Even the less experienced downwind guys looked very confident, I think the new nose shape is a real improvement. I found the 2015 version could track to board to one side if you let the nose pierce too deeply. It was something you could learn to anticipate and cope with for sure but this new shape seems less technical but with very little if any downside in terms of speed. I've still got last years 14 x 28 and plan to do some side by side comparison but so far the new one feels just as absurdly rock solid stable and a little more fun to surf because of the increased rocker and the narrower tail. I actually 'surfed' last years a few times at our local semi deserted beach break, really looking forward to getting the new one onto some small waves.
