Its not a stand up but i walked past a local surfshop last night and saw this board in the window.
It sort of anoyed me. The whole local vs pop out thing doesnt really bother me. If you like the board ride it .. Simple...
But when a pop out starts trying to play on the patriotic theme..... thats another story.... dont call a board coming out of cobra "the AUSSIE fish" and spray it green and gold. should have put the southern cross on the deck as well.....

In some ways its really no different to, say bringing a sup out of cobra into australia and calling it a McTavish - it is I guess a slap in the face to some to drop an asian pop out into our market and name it in such a way that demands acceptance. Another side of this is that the 7S and the McSup are designed by aussie shapers - at least in the very very early stages so does that then give them the right to "aussie it up".
Mate I am sure there will be opinions both for and against (personally I'll keep mine to myself) but Yep it is happening more and more and I am sure there are boards appearing in countries all over the world that are being made and marketed to the patriotic side of the prospective customer.

Are you really sure that the 7s boards are designed/made/originally shaped by australian shapers?

Originally at least the superfish was by a reputable shaper from down nsw - can't remember his name though. The aussiefish though I believe was named after a club in Patpong road in Bangkok !! and not intended to con aussie surfers into believing it was a board made for australian conditions. (easy mistake to make)
