THE AUSTRALIAN LONGBOARD OPEN 2013 will be held at Kingscliff March 20 to 24: Sean McKeowen ( Contest Director) has once again included Stand Up Paddling in the Australian Title Event. SUP will include Women's, Pro and Amateur in Both Surf and Race divisions .. their will also be a SUP River Race on the Sunday .. See all the Event Info on australianlongboardopen.com website.

Briefly it goes like this; Surfing will be held in conjunction with other board events .. and the banks are looking great. The BOP events in all classes (Pro, Women, Aged and Amateur) will be held over two events: a mid week and a weekend race. Accumulated points will determine the overall winners; Pro Prize money will be allotted to each race, and once again all amateur will be in the draw for boards and other surf equipment. All Winners get a magnificent trophy (just ask DC just how good they are) SO dont, be disappointed and get in early.

A full schedule and all other information will be released in the next few days, so get into the website australianlongboardopen.com ..... Im told by those in the know that this is the only major event which incorporates SUP simultaneously into an Australian Surfing Contest .. Maybe Worldwide .. More Info on the website and will post on Seabreeze any updates .... that website again australianlongboardopen.com

Hey Lyn, last years comp was bloody excellent and I was total stoked. "100% better than Noosa"!!
But I've got two questions, the entry fee is very expensive, a big jump from last year? and would You and Shaun consider a multiple entry discount?
Cheers Jonesy

Regarding the Entry Fees: Sean is looking into a Bulk Deal for the BOP paddlers more tomorrow .. If anyone knows of a potential SUP sponsor then get in touch with him and Im sure he can work that contact into a better deal for entry fees or prizes.

But The Opens Entry Fees are almost Half that of a comparable contest, the bags are bigger, the Ts better, prize money is more, the trophies are better, and with a board draw for amateurs (doesn't feature elsewhere) ..........
and did I mention .. its already half the price of a comparable contest ... The cost of the river race has been dropped to get more support .... But Sponsorship has been tight for everyone .. thats why all Entry Fees are up this year .. But stand by for more info in the next few days ..
