Not much small boat traffic to be concerned about I bet !!!!
Howling !!!
Didn't see any small boats.. Just some huge tankers anchored out there that kept you wondering.. Are they moving or not.. You feel like an tiny ant out there.. We started from near Koringal golf course.. The very Southern end of Altona .. Not that far from our normal launch spot at Point Cook.. I went past that yellow channel marker bouy.. You know the one.. That vid was about five minutes worth from the first hour and not yet at the half way mark.. I love being out there and to just sit on the board and relax for a few minutes and just look around and check it all out.. I hadn't fallen in up to that stage but it soon got much rougher as I approached the shipping channel.. The swells got huge but very hard to catch on the little 14.. Lots of falls and frustration with messy conditions in the second half.. Still.. Great fun and a real workout..

In the vid it was looking a bit more orderly compared to some of the chopped-up N-NW runs we've had...or was that a trick of the camera (or editing)?
Nice vid DJ You guys are very spoilt down there for down winding conditions wow gotta be some of the best in Aussie by the looks of it!! I might have to grab a cheap flight one weekend and hit Cam up for the night and get amongst it sometime !! We have a howling westery with no where to paddle in that wind direction ... And flat surf here ATM

yeah i've hardly ever seen our runs as nicely groomed as what you guys would take for granted.

The N-NW runs are a walk in the park compared with a westerly across the bay. Even that 47 knot howler during the week was easy compared with a 20-25 knot across the bay. That run should only ever be attempted by experienced downwind paddlers and even then, with plenty of safety precautions. You're a long way from dry land out there as DJ once discovered.
Yer Dan , no probs anytime just hope the wind co-operates , and Stu defiantly not as well lined up as a north wind run for most of it but bigger and steeper swells for some sections, like PT said extra preperation and experience reqiured.
