Hi,
I will be around the Port Elloitt area for a few days later this week.
Where are the best suping waves in the region?

Howdy Ian,
The long range forecast is saying north wind sat morning. Best location for clean conditions will probally be middleton. Its a beach break will probally be clean, the waves are weak and fat but on a sup, more that fun. Last sat (20th) was pretty good so may be the same. Re-check wed nights forecast.

Scott

Thanks guys,
Just had a look at a map and Middleton is just down the road and south coast is not to far away, should be good.
Are there many Sup'ers around Middleton?

Ian,
I am not sure if there are any local SUP riders down south, most surfers travel down from Adelaide for the day. There actually are not many people riding SUP in Adelaide also so The most you may see is 3 to 5 at best. Take note of the forecast wind and swell, if there is waves at seaford, the quality is worth a half an hour drive. Avoid surfers as the ignorance factor is still high.
Might see you down there Sat morning.

Scott

Hi all,
If you are ever travelling to Adelaide, do yourself a favour and head down to Middleton near Victor Harbour for a SUP.
I’ve just back home after spending 4 days there and I’m hooked on the area.

Mark, great to catch up with you Sat morning. Other than breaking my leggie it was a very enjoyable session.
I went back to the point Sun morning at day light but it was closing out a bit too quick for my liking.
My son and I went to another break on the outskirts of Middleton towards Goolwa. (Boettcher road I think it’s called, not sure about the spelling). A fattish over head high and glass.
The Starie 11 2 was a bit of a hand full but not once did she misbehave. You would of love it.

Your missed a great morning Scotty. All in all the surfers were ok except for one idiot on Sun morning, no sweet he soon shut his mouth

Howdy Ian,
Unfortunately I got called in to work sat morning. I did get out about 5pm sat afternoon after the sea breeze glassed off. I also rode sunday morning from dawn to about 10 am just west of boecher road. I was just west of the toilet block, i am suprised you did not see me, it was pretty solid so it may have been hard to see me amongst the other crowd. Good swell 3 to 4 feet glass. The first hour I had it all to myself which was all time. Gave me a good chance to work out my new board.
Glad you enjoyed it Ian, its my home break, pity missed you, let me know when your down next time.
Regards,
Scotty

Bugger,
My son was staying in a beach house near the last cark park to the east, not sure how far that was from the toilets.

Ooop's, cant half tell I'm new to this Surfing / Suping game. I guess to the purist it was 3 > 4 foot, to me if it's over my head then I call it head high.
I guess I need to adjust my height scale if I'm going to quote wave height in the future.

Yeah hope to catch up next time in town.

Ian,
If you can picture it, I generally ride on the western side just down from the cliffs. The dunny block is on the end of Skye Ave. Just out from there basically. SUP boards allow a bit of travel and so far I have found the waves break a bit better there. Sometimes when it gets crowded, I head east past the cliffs toward Goolwa and find a peak to myself. Good fun SUP waves, plenty to be had.
See you next time.

Scott

Hey Tweety, what a nice girl looking to surprise your man with a stand up paddle board.. Awesome.. It depends on how big he is, and how skilled and balanced he is.
If In doubt always go bigger, look at getting him an 11 6 " or 11 2" for his first board.
Some good brands to look for (in no particular order) Naish- Psh- Starboard-Kalama-Jimmy Lewis, I started on the 11 6" south point Kalama, excellent board.
I also love the 11 2" starboard, great board In the surf! And the 11 4" naish is also meant to be awesome, any psh board is super quality, let us know how you go!!

I have been looking at interstate surf shops all day and had one place email me back.. they have some demo boards 2008 starboard 12'2 x 26 or 12'6 x 30 and a fairly good price from what i've seen. Or i've seen a bonga 10' but not sure if they'll freight it over to adelaide.
Brook where did you buy your boards??
thanks for your help.. i'll look into it further..
And if he doesn't behave him self he'll get a pair of boardies

Hey Tweety,
Steer clear of narrow boards. Dont buy anything less than 29" wide.

Nah go for it anyway Tweety get him a board and pay him back for going away by getting out there and using it all the time.

I haven't looked on the ''buy and sell'' section on here for a while but there have been a few board's pop up on there from SA.

The board is for him.. how would buying it pay him back? I'm not into water or beach activities... i'm way to pale.. got really badly burnt feet Aussie day weekend at Robe. So i stay home and let him go out.

I have also contacted that guy about the board but not heard back.
