I am soon flying Sydney-Oahu-Kauai-Oahu-Sydney with Hawaiian Air all the way. I'll change flights once I get to Honolulu for Kauai & return. I'm aiming to take my 8'6 PSH & paddle over. The Hawaiian Air website & paperwork says it's fine to take it over & back, with a charge of $50 or so for each leg of inter-island flights.

I just thought I'd get your advice on whether this seems right to you, since I had unexpected costs last time I flew Hawaiian Air & a seperate inter-island aircraft.

We have usually been slugged $100 us for each inter island connection.
Hawaiian domestic in Honolulu is a self check in, get the friendly dude to help, you will know who I mean when you see him

Hawaiian Air has the cheapest board shipping....We ship all the time interisland and sometimes it's $35 if you get the right person. The wrong person is $50 each way.

If you book the international and domestic flights together your board will travel free right through and it must be noted on your booking BUT it's still not guaranteed as the others said come across the wrong person and your hand will be in your pocket , it's the self check in that brings it unstuck so go straight to the help and check in there.

dont discount just renting when your on the islands, great way to test gear. The rental gear is usually the latest season stuff.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Points taken.

Re renting, I've done that a few times, & got to the stage that I want my own gear that I know well & can access whenever I like. Greg, I do agree that you get to try out new equipment. Done that and am stoked with what I already have. However, if there's a SUP that takes my interest- like a PSH 10'6 Gun- then I will. Uncle Bryan at Haliewa comes to mind.

Anyone SUP surfed West of Haliewa, around Mokuleia?

Another question: What's the best way to ship the board & paddle? Paddle inside the boardcover, taped to outside of cover, or as a separate item to the SUP? Thanks.
