My daughter loves mucking about on the SUP its an older 11'6 Naish Nalu . Its probably a bit wide but really stable for her to get her confidence . Just wanted to know if anyone else has kids this age SUPing and what paddles are suitable ,
I guess also what would be a good board for me to get her for her own board and one more suited to her age group .

Thanks for any help ,
Cheers Ant

Hi Dartboy,

If money isn't an object, the Quickblade 83 sq in fibreglass blade and shaft is excellent and comes in pink! ;-)

The new Starboard Tiki Tech Kids Adjustable are absolute gold for $199, it is hard to go past them, performance, durability and a good price.

For the budget conscience the Tufskin adjustable kids for $95.

For the young guns that want ultimate performance either the Enduro or High Aspect Carbon at $415.

Hi Ant, my 9yo son uses a Naish Keiki adjustable and has done for a couple of years now, my 7yo has a Coreban Hyper fixed paddle. Both awesome and super durable. And the best thing for the kids is they are both quality light paddles with shafts that are the right size for kids hands. You can't go wrong with any branded paddle designed specifically for kids. They need to be light enough and well made to encourage participation. The adjustable has been our workhorse for all of their friends too.

Quickblade also do a 67" paddle which would probably more appropriate.

My 8 and 9 yo daughters and wife are sharing a Naish Makani 8.0 Vario with the reduced diameter shaft from last year. It makes a good loaner for friends who want to try SUP as well.

My 8yr old son is using a YOB adjustable paddle. Robust but still light enough especially for a adjustable.

My 6 yr old uses the hobie 3 piece paddle from my inflatable. Its carbon fibre but heavier than my paddle. I just put the blade and top handle together and it works for him perfect length. Can also be adjustable if you put all the bits together.

My Naish adjustable I brought 1-2 years ago is great for the kids, problem is that its now splitting around the blade, hasnt had a hard life either, minimal use compare to my other paddles.
