Hello-
I am new to this forum and to the sport and I need some advice. I am roughly 98kg. I have been paddling only 4 or 5 times, but feel that the harbor is going to get boring quick. I have surfed for over 30 years on short and long boards for what it is worth. Can anyone recommend which of these boards would be best for me. I know that I will take some on the head learning, but I want to buy the right size and just get it down. If there are other boards you recommend, please throw it out there. Thanks in advance for any advice.

StaLoose...

firstly... in DJ's words.. welcome to the breeze

Secondly.... id suggest the starboard 10'5'', Naish 11'2''.... there are countless others... I suggest you go down to your local shop and try few demos.. see how they fell then get the one which you feel is best!

Where are you located?

Thanks gentlemen for your input. I will be giving my new PSH 10'6 wide a back massage in about 24 hours. I will update the forum on my thoughts after I have had a chance to ride it a bit. Thanks again and happy surfing.

Casso,
After reading reviews, trying out 9 or 10 boards in the flats, calculating my weight and height, considering my years surfing, taking tons of advice from guys I know that SUP and practically losing my eye sight from looking at boards on the computer... in the end it was the eloquence of 62mac that sold me with his plain and simple advice,
"Short and sweet 10.6 wide Game over."
I will let you know if it was a good decision.

PS Thanks 62mac

Hey StaLooose,

RevVin tried my 10'6WAA tonight in some clean waves at OG and he went home with a smile only Garfield could come close to!

We surfed till it was way way after dark and even then he would still be there now if I had not finally paddled in.

I have paddled the 10'6WAA into some big waves

You have a fine board go smash some waves!

Yep its an awesome board, from my limited experience.

Gotta thank Phill for letting me surf his bigger baby tonight, had a ball. Its the first SUP I've ridden in the waves that hasnt been a super tanker and its opened up a new world.

I've read on here guys talking about boards turning on a dime and never thought I'd be able to do it on a SUP, but on one of the few lefts I got tonight (I'm a goof) pushed into the bottom turn and it turned on a dime.

My wife was a bit suss on what I'd been up to with the size of the grin on my face when I got home.

Gotta thank the BH footy club for having their lights on at training tonight aswell, meant we could stay out for another 20+ minutes after dark.
