I posted this in the windsurfing - may have been better here

Anyone had any success with an after market mast track and foot strap inserts (I have seen one) for an SUP?
My old 9'8 starby is a bit of a boat but my 9'0 fusion doesnt have track or footstraps.

Any epoxy aftermarket experts believe if would it be possible with the 9'0 Coreban fusion or just weaken it too much?

Thanks for your comments in advance

IMO.. What do you mean buy 'mast track'.. Just put a 10" fin box in the deck.. Maybe put a couple of woodies in alongside if you like or you could insert a block of heavy duty foam and put the box in that then glass over it.. But I would just use the simple fin box option straight in the deck first.. You're not going to be jumping it.. are you?.. and foot strap inserts shouldn't be a problem either.. the only problem will be heel dents if you use it in strong winds.

dont put foot straps in. Such a waste.
SUP Wave Sailing is so much fun because your strapless and you HAVE to run around the board to make it turn etc.
At least try it without straps first... just for me.

Try stuart bell sails in perth for a mast track. I believe they are the distrubutor for chinook who make quality tracks and fin boxes. they should ship no probs.

Make sure you use lots of reo when installing.
Good luck!!

agreed you shouldnt get footstraps. I am going to a guy in Gerroa to put two mast tracks in SUPs for my girlfriend and my son. My view is that having the option to put a mast on an SUP is almost a must have. I know the purists will scoff but an SUP is almost the perfect one board solution.

Hi Russ. Cut loose have a few old windsurfing mast tracks. I glassed mine into the pocket rocket using 2 layers of 6 oz and it's strong as. Each to their own but I found footstraps helped alot if you want to sail it aggressively.

Cheers - a few options -might talk to local board repairer - will definately go with footstraps - been riding my 9'8 with straps just on the wave ridng side and it opens up the potential of the board compared to riding it in waves without straps

Will check out a few options -

Josh did you take a template off one of your sailboards for the track position and foot straps?

Yep Russ. I set the back stap with the back lug on the kick pad. I measured the rest from my waveboard. I also put in extra lugs on the back stap to off set further out on the rail.
