There's interesting stuff brewing on the Zone forum with Stuey taking it to the Zoners with a challenge that might bring the America's cup of SUP down under..

www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php?topic=1845.0

I doesn't take much these days to get people fired up does it.. ..Go Stuey!!!

talk about pressure to perform ,i have had a few paddles in hawaii and the molokai channel and that water is alot different to anything we have here and never disrespect your competition and never the HAWAIIAN'S , and boards all have there day but lenght can also be a killer in rough downwinders over 2 hours , plaining against displacement well we can go on for ever on that but you got to find a blend of both for molokai and best fit for paddleboards in molokai i have come up with is mostly planning hull with displacement outline .But SUP boards i haven't worked out yet but having fun trying ,good job with your boards and you got the right guy riding it ,but don't give the competitions the reson to find the little extra it might be needed to change the result.

Hey Waduku ther's no pressure on Woogie to perform, they don't expect him to win. All anyone can do is their best. As for the Molokai channel he's been there plenty of times before and knows what to expect and as for me I have never ever showed disrespect towards the Hawaiians, I love the place and whether Woogie wins or loses doesn't matter, at least we'll have a go. We do this for fun after all, don't you?

Not yet Scotty Mac, I'm under a little pressure to perform myself at the moment! What with designing and building a new steering system for L.D. Sups as well as making a new board for the Seaway to Seaway, which incidently I build by hand by myself from start to finish! I'll get some photos taken and up of the new 14' as soon as I get a spare moment......Cheers, Stuey

Cheers Stuey,
I have been reading a lot about what you have been saying and the waterlength makes a lot of sense. Not sure I am ready for a full blown race board but I am starting to think 14 is a good compromise and that 12 foot boards are maybe not really going to be a good boards the long term. The 14 would still be n enjoyable, practical and more affordable alternative. Why look elswhere when it seems you guys are making some of the fastest boards here in the world.
Going to buy local.

Aloha

I wanted to post a reply here since Stuey was getting some heat about his challenge on the other forum. The info being passed around with Stuey and me was nothing more than good fun and it had nothing to do with Hawaii paddlers and in no way taken as disrespect. Yes it did get a little out of hand but what can you expect from a craftsman who puts sweat and hours in producing a board he can be proud of.
One thing you guys have going with SUP race boards in Australia is Stuey being so passionate about his boards and this is something I really respect. Nowadays this passion gets lost with trying to sell to the masses. I really believe you have a great man in Stuey and Stuey is lucky to have one of the top test pilots in Woggie Marsh. I have my kids studying Woggies vids because I love his paddling style.
I really hope Stuey does well in the Molokai challenge because he has one of the top motors in Marsh now it is up to Stuey to build the vehicle to match the motor. Just wanted to pass this info on and I will now head back to my world.

Aloha

Thanks Byron but there's no real need to explain and it's not the Breezer's against the Zoner's and I don't think any of us take it all too seriously..

It is a shame that the challenge will probably not happen now but I think the huge distance and high costs involved are to blame.

We'll all be waiting for the Molokai next year and we hope at the end we get to chant the "Aussie,Aussie,Aussie,Oy,Oy,Oy!!

Keep in touch and keep your vids coming..We're due for another because we want to see your son Noah (and yourself) and your vids are always great.

BTW.. Let's hope Bill gets one of Stuey's boards and goes well on it.. I know his brother Bob is itching to have a go also..

No need to explain Byron us aussies just put everything into what we do and always want to be the best at any sport or thing, it's just in our nature but 99% of the time once it's over we love to sit and have a beer and shake hands.win or loose.

Cheers for becoming a breezer mate
