Hey, I am new to this, and paddle on Port Phillip bay in the flat for fitness and the aim of getting to the surf too!

So I know there is Surfing, Flat water paddling, Down-winder racing, and some others. But tonight in the dead calm and 30c air, I discovered the joy of plain ol f'íng around with my 15yo old son.

Having some races, trying the pivot turns, jumping onto each others boards, falling off, swimming, a real blast . Reminds me of my childhood.

And my son, who hasn't yet sampled the surf, also sees more to the sport.

Yeeha!!

ps.. I Should add, and cruising along the beach front with one eye on the white pointers ;)

Hey Danny,

I have a C4 11'6
(C4 being rather topical, and this board was highly recommended by DJ as it happens ;) )

and my son paddles an NSP 11' Mal
(As it turns out this was DJs first SUP, but I didn''t buy it from him).

Seriously, it was great evening, reminded me that 15yo's need instant gratification (read fun), the goal of surfing in the future is not always enough to keep them interested.

Cheers,
Paul

As Shane Crawford would say "That's what I'm talking about". You need to come out for a night paddle sometime in Melbourne on the Yarra - where are you DJ, JD, Helkie - let's sort a night out soon.

Monday night is looking good?

I feel that time is coming really soon - best on a fullish moon and a still warm night, you must join us sometime - magic.

Hey Oliver,

I like the idea of a night paddle, but the fear of ending up in that toxic soup is very unappealing.

I know, "don't fall in", but I reckon that necessity would promote a fall.
I would be terrified
