G'day, I'm thinking of heading to Melbourne this Sunday for the SHQ Cruise to Cerberus and was wandering if anyone is doing a downwinders before hand? not sure if a strong SW is any good.
Be good to pop my DW cherry with some experienced crew while I'm in Melbourne

SW is no good in Melbourne, it's onshore for all the bayside suburbs. Only chance is to go down to Mornington Peninsula.

Thanks Woody, is there much protection for the SHQ day or will it be blown out?

It will almost certainly be relocated to the north side of the yacht club which offers a bit of protection from the SW.
