Just curious after some of the interesting discussions on here. They are on the Gold Coast aren't they?

The NSW version was fun, quite cheap to enter 2 events and we ended up with over 60 crew I believe.

It's interesting that QLD has the 3 best competitive SUP surfers yet seems to have a fairly low level of participation in SUP surfing events - any reason for this?

Edit: just noticed that it has been postponed - perhaps that answers my question

Apparently not according to Jamie himself. I don't understand, why would anyone say that he was the sponsor if it wasn't true and if knew nothing about it?

Surely it's some sort of mix up. No-one could be that brazen and think they could get away with it.

Sorry,, just went to the web site.
Lets all get behind Surfing Queensland.Judges and comps will improve as more events get going.
We can't fault SQ with their State Titles at Kawana and the Coast of Origin they just ran.

Hey Goatie,

I am not speaking on behalf of any club the following are my thoughts.

I notice there is a SUPA Vic State Title!

There are only 2 clubs in Vic and both have contact details in the SUP Clubs section and up until a couple of days ago there wasnt any communication, consultation anything to either club.

Why would anyone support an event that was set up with absolutely no consultation with the 2 clubs that are workin hard hand in hand to raise the profile of the sport in the state?

Both clubs have Sup Surfers and Sup Racers that compete at both a local and national level but apparently have little to contribute. Lummers, Courtney Dalton, Cam Lamperd, Cammo Hosk, Bnaccas, Roscoe, Lazza and a host of other SUPVic and Bassup members may just know which end of a SUP board points at the beach, DJ, JC, PT Woody, Simmondo, Rich Bartle and a host of other SUPVic and Bassup members might have a clue about racing and downwinding on the bay or the coast?

This is the second time the same approach has been used in Vic and its appears for an organization that says it represents the SUP sport by consultation it needs to learn a lot about inclusion, engagement and participation.

Maybe SUPA should contact the commitees of both clubs call a meeting and have a round table chat over a meal and a cold beverage and lay some cards on the table. Its a little old fashioned but occasionally it works, the other possible alternative is another Qld outcome!

Goatie it appeared from the feedback from Casso, yourself and others that we know and respect that the NSW Titles were super fun and a total blast, think the term I heard used was all time!

I was hoping we would share in the same spirt, stoke etc and have a real hoot.

Maybe not?

Phill

Nailed it Phill
I would hazard a guess that the NSW event was a success because it involved some quality crew in the organising department. Central Coast SUP Club?? I know Sharpie was on deck and he strikes me as being real people and not up to pushing any hidden agendas!
Oh well, maybe next year.
Cheers
