Taking the kids and the ball and chain camping over New Years to Arrawarra Headland. We are going with a few other families that camp here each year but none are surfers. Sooo.....anyone surfed that area of the North coast? Any waves to be had at the headland? Any other decent spots you can point me in the direction of?(dont want your spot x's, just where i can expect a few waves.) Cheers.

If you are staying at the caravan park at arrawarra then you will want to walk along the beach to the headland (point) for a surf. The water is nice and shallow and safe for kids and rarely is there any shorebreak to worry about. It can get a bit dumpy and windy out front the caravan park and when the surf trips hit there its also really busy. The point can be fickle and if its flat (most of the time) the next beach south (only a coupla hundred metres) is Mullawarra and its one of the best surf beaches on the east coast - especially good at the southern end. Also the shop at Mullaway has the best burgers around and will save you a trip into woolgoolga if you just wanna grab a quick feed/drinks. Its a very special part of the world - you will fall in love with it.

the arrawarra caravan park is full of backpackers that are bused in each day for surf lessons,it is run by mojo surf and they promote it as spot X and they really dont care about the rest of the tenants,up to a hundred of euro trash stay there in containers and clutter the surf at the front of the park, bonus is they dont go near the point, there are plenty of parks around the area that are better to stay at.this is a once magic caravan park ruined by greed.we stayed in lorikeet park last week and surfed the point every day.

Darlington is nice. To surf the point though it will be easier to drive half a k south and turn left at the servo and follow signs to the headland. Its a bit of a walk to the point from darlington with boards.
