This question has probably been asked and answered before so pardon me and kindly point me in the right direction. Heading for the Goldy on Sunday for a December birthday and wedding anniversary, the combined number of which is just bloody ludicrous. Flying kid free for five days and am hoping to get a paddle or two in, no car so no travel. We are staying right on the point at Burliegh and was hoping there would be somewhere reasonably close ie walking or paddleing distance where I could hire or demo a board and paddle. Would bring my own but am flying with Tiger and have no desire to hock a kidney in order to pay to get it up there. The Minister for War and Finance has me on a pretty tight schedule but I reckon I will be up for the early and under the radar!! Thanks for any info in advance Cheers Sparx
Before I get cained I just wanted to make clear that I have no intention of taking a Stand Up out to the Point should it be breaking. More interested in sniffing out a few beachies or maybe that 'secret' spot on the back side of the Heads. Cheers Sparx
Was at Burleigh last month with my wife and we hired boards from Roar. We had a hire car so it was only a 5 min drive and is the closest SUP hire place. Where their shop is you can walk across the road to the creek and paddle up to the alley in about 10mins. They were cool about us taking the boards into surf as well and looked after us really well with the hire price.
I've had some beachies right out front of the surf club or further north on an SUP. Yeah your right, you will need your flame suit and milk crate helmet on if you venture out to the point on an SUP in a half decent wave.
