My girlfriend and I are heading to Australia in april to see some friends and for a bit of a road trip. I was last over in 2007 before I started paddling and surfed quite a few spots from Sydney up to Brisbane and back. This time the plan is to fly into melbourn and do a few bits around there and then head up towards Brisbane again surfing along the way. I was just wondering if any one could give any suggestions for good sup spots to stop by at along the way? any places that are a proper no go on a sup? although I will probably take a short board also.

best regards

Charlie.

No quick responses hey?
That'll be because there's no waves in that part of the country

Waves everywhere.. and no no-go sup zones down this way [except maybe Bells and Winki].

Enjoy your trip..

So many waves between Melbourne and Brisbane - literally thousands of breaks - it just depends how much time you've got. Perfect time of year for a surf tour of the east coast - clear warm water and generally good swell. Google search for the top point breaks and as a general rule don't take your sup out at there.

Mate check out a web site called wannasurf.com it has surf breaks for all of aus and the world. It also gives you a run down of best conditions, what to look out for (sharks/rips/angry locals etc) plus best times to surf it, how to get there etc. Enjoy the trip

Just on that, i did hear that there were "No SUP" zones at Flinders (Gunnery, meano's) and i also heard they were considering it at Point Leo :/ but i haven't seen it or witnessed the signage as yet.
Hopefully not ;)
