hilly said...Lol dean nice bite

your waves tend to be protected by cliffs mine are 1k out open to lots of wind. I prefer a heavier board in those conditions.
At 105kg I can throw a 10kg board around ok.
Can you stop the evangelical preaching please I am allowed to have my view I do not have to accept yours. If you read my first post I said light is good.
The naish photo you use out of context was creased in small waves the mana in the review section was creased flicking of a wave I have seen a 11 4 snap paddling up a wave. I have seen another brand explode into 3 pieces and another snap in foam. Plenty of examples to to keep me happy with my choice. Naish are not a proper sandwich construction they just have a wood veneer on the deck the bottom is just glass.
I liked the photo of your board after the mal hit it looked not very strong

Hilly there is no need to tell me my boards are weak...I know they are. How do you think the are so light.
They last the same or better than a standard eps surfboard.....everyone knows the pro's & con's of surfboard construction & they are still made in their 1000's, there is no need for debate here.
To make the comment that YOU liked my board being damaged by a mal makes you sound vindictive? Would you like to explain to us why?....it makes you sound Silly Hilly

Preaching? A lot of riders not aware that its possibe to have boards very light...so get over it Hilly.... I will continue to make it known for those who are interested.
I have no agenda to convert you or anyone else into riding a light small board, it is not for everyone (But the ease of carrying is!

)
One day Hilly you may see the light....excuse the pun

And have a play on something different. After all.... that is the reason many start to ride SUP anyway.
Regarding wind & light boards....
I dont mean to come accross as a smart arse, BUT.... how do you know the waves I ride are sheltered by cliffs?
The only wave I surf that has large cliffs is Bells & maybe Urquharts bluff.
The larger waves we ride here are off the end of Point Danger & PRK, the fetch over open water on a northerly is 3k's or so, it's where we kite...so a very windy area.
I've had 11' heavy boards out there on windy days...& now ride a light 8'2" there,
the main difference with the short board is the lack of nose for wind to push around or get under in a late take off & late take offs can be manditory when paddling into a strong head wind

. So I find short & light no problem. Do you actualy know Hilly that light is ok in wind? Have you actualy tried it?
But of course, once the chop gets to 1' or more..certainly a larger board is more comfortable....but when it's that windy it's not fun anyway.
