Got up real early and checked Coastal Watch and to my dismay the beach was big and messy with the point only being the option

As I've just got a Staffy puppy and no one in the house being up I thought I would do the right thing and not go trying to chase a few waves down the Coast and take the pup down the beach for a coffee and watch the mayhem onthe point
Got my coffee and made my way to the point with the pup in the other hand
Avoca point this morning was a good 3-4 foot but hadn't really cleaned up and a few bigger sets were pushing thru
It was nuts crazy and a I smiled as I had made the right choice and it's always fun to watch the long weekend madness when the point is working
At this point I nearly dropped the pup and chocked on my coffee as the furthest guy out jumped to his feet as set was coming and started paddling !!!!!

i hadn't realised anyone was out on a SUP as they were all sitting on their boards, but as as he stroked on to the set wave and that distinctive Naish yellow board glistened in the sun I realised it was Toby Cracknell
I I had heard about him and have only being SUPing for the past month this was the first time I had seen him surf
Safe to say for the next forty minutes he blew my mind on what you can do on a SUP , he was smacking the lip , big Cuttys and floating sections ! It was awesome.
As I said it felt like the best surf a but I didn't go out , I know I would have to be dreaming at my age to be able to surf like that but I'm going to get a short board SUP before the end of the year and it will be a Naish for sure ,
Im more than hooked now
