I was only talking to a few about this yesterday.

I think Australia missed the craze a little last summer although I'm expecting that this summer 2010 / 2011 will be a ball tearer with SUP sales through the roof and the sport really catching back up to the levels in the USA / Hawaii & Europe.

It is accessable to the family, an entry level for all whether young / old / weak or strong and primarily about FUN in the sun for which surfing does not aspire to these days IMO and as stated in the article, not only for coastal dwellers - any body of water offers an opportunity in a variety of winds not seen through the eyes of a surfer.
