Hi all,
I've just spent 5 days SUPing Bali (sanua reef).

If you get a chance, do your self a favour and head up there for some great waves / weather and freindly people.
The first 4 days were friendly small waves to learn on. The 5th day was huge, too good for me.

Jankie from Bali Kitesurf hires out SUP's and is a wealth of knowledge on the local hot spots. Also has great prices on new and used SUP gear.

Ian

Hey DJ,
The reef is about a 200m paddle from where I was staying. Girya Santarian - Sanua. No boat required.

Go onto Bali kitesurfing web site, follow the prompts to SUP and gallery. Pic's of Tanjung left and right / Hyatt reef and school session were in front of where I was staying.
I was aloud to keep the SUP i hired at my resort, paddled when ever I liked.
The red roofs in the back gound in a couple of the pic's was where I was staying.

From sun rise until lunch time the water is flat as in the pic's, no wind. After lunch the wind is around 5 to 8 knots and it's time for Bintangs (beers )beside the pool. High tide in the a.m. was the go.

There was another great spot near kite beach, it was a bit further out though. (Probably 20 minutes to half hour paddle).
No need to go there when it was ideal out the front of where I was staying.

Ian

Ciao Ian,
was a pleasure to meet with you....
Confirm that in Sanur you don't really need a boat.
The further out reef is at Blue Reef and Hyatt is about 13-15 minutes of paddling a good work out before starting some wave actions.
Depending on the tide and size of the swell there is always a good spot in Sanur.
After you left the wind kind of kick in and have been good for kiting so not much complain there. Looks like tomorrow the swell will pick up again....
Hope to see you soon again.
Bye Jankie
