The other day we got perfect conditions to paddle out to Fawkner Beacon in the middle of Port Phillip Bay.

Check out Jonathan's new Bamboo Starboard race fin.. He paddled his new SurfRace.

It's out there somewhere.. We all just followed Dave.. He paddled his Starboard Pin.

Warwick paddled his Naish 14' Glide and Mark paddled his 12'6" Starboard Cruiser.

We can see it now and it's one of those days where you can't see where the sky meets the water.

I paddled my Naish 17 and if I'd known how glassy it was I'd have used the Jav.

Paul paddled the K15.

There it is and it took about 55 minutes.

I climbed up and took some pictures looking down.

Wow.. Check out that beautiful thing.

Paul on the K15 and looking west.

Nice group shot.

Looking east from up on the upper level.

Paul loved paddling Jonathan's K15.

We're off heading back.

I expected it to be colder than it was and I took my Croc's in case my tootsies got cold.

We let the others go ahead and I paddled with Paul.. I asked if he was hot in a full steamed.. He was.

So he cooled off.

Back at Green Point and the sun came out.. The water was so clear.

Back at the car park.. Does that board looks long or what.

I looked in the back of Jonathan's van and took a pic of his new fin.. I'd like to try it in my Naish 14 DW board.

My vote goes for the big 17' Glide.. .. The SurfRace, Pin, K15, 14' Glide and even the old 12'6" Starboard all went very well in those conditions.

There's no doubt that the 14' Javelin would have been faster but I didn't take it because being so far out if we got hit with a 10-15 knot side wind for the whole way back continuous balance checks would be a pain in the butt.

In my opinion the K15 would have been fastest if only it had a half decent pilot.

Magic Morning.

The shots actually do it justice!

Not sure how you managed to airbrush the chop out in every shot?

Nothing on offer this week, let's aim for one next week.

DJ, Where do you get that webbing on the front of your Glide? Can it be removed once fitted?

We use E-Z plugs and then the stretch / shock cord is available in 4, 5 or 6mm thickness from most boating shops. The cord can be removed anytime but the E-Z plugs are stuck.

Yeah they're just stick on EZ Plugs and they cost about $6 each.. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=58100&SearchTerms=EZ,plugs

I just thread some bungie cord through them when I want to carry something on my board.. I take the bungie off when not needing it.

All my flat water boards have them.. I think I'll pass on the Jav..

They're great for carrying toy animals on your board.
