Here's a vid from yesterdays down-winder.

It was a beautiful day here in Melbourne yesterday and we did a nice little down wind run.. I spent most of the time with my friend Mick who was on his green DC16 and even though the wind was only 15-20 knots there were plenty of good runners to be had on these big boards.. I was on my 17' Glide.. We are in the middle of our winter right now and I didn't wear my wettie again so I really, really didn't want to fall in.. but Mick was in his steamer and had to jump in to cool off.. I managed to stay dry..

You're right DJ, much better conditions yesterday with some nice runners. Today just didn't suit the 17's, too much side chop.

dj, how does the dc 16 go. it was same board as i had filed up. think mine was hand shaped flater across the bottom and had less rocker. from memory mick wanted a bit more rocker than the file/program. mine wasn't full carbon like the green machine
cheers

Hi Lacey
The 16 footer is pretty much the same shape as your old blue one, with a few changes, thanks again for the R&D. It goes really well, although it could use a fitter paddler on it. I've been off the water for the last 8 months and I'm struggling a bit.
The board is quick, goes well downwind and with the soft rails and lowered deck is predictable in side chop. It'll pick up runners easily up to about 10 knots then surprisingly takes a fair bit more effort until the wind hits about 20 knots and off it flies again. It's a little less stable than the Naish 17' but the upside is that it's a bit faster in flat water.
I'm really happy with it, now all I need is more paddling time.

Mick, I don't think there's much in it between our two DW boards (your 16' DC and my 17' Glide).. You're right that my Glide is slightly more stable not having that slight initial tip that the DC has due to the rail difference and your board having a little belly and mine having concave.. I'm sure the only reason I was a little quicker than you on that day was paddle fitness and my time on the water.
