Yesterday I met Jonathan at Frankston and we put the two 14' on my car and drove down the east coast to the Sorrento.
I stopped off at St Pauls road to check out the view and the cave that I use to sleep in with a group of friends when I was a teenager.. It's now caged off.
Looks like the nanny state sees the old cave unsafe and thinks it might collapse or something.. I loved this place when I was young.
We looked along the beach looking for a safe place to launch our big boards so we could do some exploring along the coast.
We climbed up the top of the cliffs and checked out the view up and down the coast.. There was a lot more swell than we expected.. The waves way out the back were huge.
We couldn't see a safe launching spot and didn't bring our wetsuits.. so we though about how good Big Left must be and it's just up the coast so we went there and had an awesome time out in the waves way out the back of Flinders and some nice big sets rolled through every now and then.. We did get cleaned up a few times and even without wetsuits in the middle of Winter it was worth it.
I didn't take any pictures out on the water but I did get some vid that I will post soon.. Jeez I love Melbourne..
