Hello all,
I apologise if the terminology or format of this post is incorrect. First timer here!
I have recently been using a friends SUP and have also just come back from Hawaii and am keen to buy my own SUP. I really only want to use it on flat water for cruising and maybe small waves eventually (if ever).

I've been doing research but I can't find any conclusive answers or guidance.
Basically I am not sure where to start. From reading threads on this forum I can see that the general consensus is that there a significant difference in quality between brands and cost prices.

I have found a 'honu' brand SUP on eBay (couldn't find much info on the Internet) for $700. On the Surfboardwarehouse website I have seen an Atlantis Glider Soft SUP for $500 (seems too good to be true- bad quality?)

For reference I am 5'9" and 65Kg. I am willing to spend more on a board if the differences in quality is that significant.
Thank you so much for your guidance!

Hi Rachael a cruiser is a great way to start . Flat water and small waves are perfect for this type of board . Heaps of packages around . Honu boards are ok I have one and its been great also Ride the tide boards are great too. Being only 65kgs you could use any length from 9ft to 11ft . Width from 30 to 32 on most boards in this range. Soft tops are ok but dont paddle as nice . The Atlantis brand is good as well . Hope this helps. Good luck .

Depends where you are but if around the goldy you could always look at something like our GCSup boards they start around the $650mark 2nd hand or $899 new but we offer a really cool deal with these boards which is if you buy one we will give you a buy back deal where we will give you at least half your money back of the purchase price if you decide you want to upgrade to a better quality board down the track, so really you could buy one beat it up in the learning phase then when you know exactly what you want bring it back and we will get you on a better quality board.
The GCSUP boards are super fun all round boards and still surf really good and a great way to get into to sup with very little risk!!

Risk of buying cheaper boards is really you just don't know what you are getting sometimes they are good and other times they might have been made on a Friday afternoon and might not be the best so at least this way you are buying from a actually shop/person who will 100%stand behind the product and tell you 100% the difference between the good and the bad.

Hope this helps
Cheers Jacko
