I'm looking for a 14 footer to perform the following functions, in order of importance:

1. Training in the ocean light to medium swell but must be able to go upwind as well as downwind and be able to handle cross chop etc.
2. Training in flat water upwind and down
3. Recreational racing ( short, long, ocean & flat but not BOP style)
4. Downwinders, unlikely but would like it to be able to perform this function if I did get into them

I realise personal preferance plays a part and know the demo, demo, demo deal but just looking for peoples opinions an experience. My preference would be a custom DC, but the budget won't stretch that far. Has anybody tried the NSP 14 in the ocean yet?

I'm 85kg with about 2.5 years exp surfing sups but zero exp on race boards.

Hey Thomo you should just talk to Dale anyway. He always knows people / team riders etc that are looking to sell boards, a new/used DC14 is as good as a brand one. He may even be able to discuss the base level option on a new one for you so you know exactly where you stand.

I have the new DC14 bought off Lacey new-used and use it for everything on your list plus a bit of BOP training also and I can't fault it at all. Even handles in the surf pretty well.
