I am going to be completely biased here.

Go to Binks Marine in Somerton Park.

The guy who owns it, Sandy is one of my best mates and he and his team will absolutely do the right thing by you on advice and equipment.

I have bought a couple of boards from Onboard along with some other gear and they usually seem to do a bit of a deal. I think they probably have the best range in Adelaide from what I have seen however I have never been able to try a demo board with them. The team there are pretty friendly and helpful though.
I have been looking at ordering a new board through them however the delivery time was over two months for that particular board and there was a possibility I would be charged extra for delivery to their shop if the board wasn't part of the standard shipment (although I guess that could have been negotiable). I looked online and have ordered the same board from one of the advertisers here and the board was shipped the same day and will be delivered to my door with no shipment fees.
I guess it depends what you are looking for and what type of service you want - with Onboard you get to see the different types of boards and talk to the staff about your requirements (same with any physical shop I guess) and possibly do a bit of a deal since you will be buying 2 boards, paddles, leggies etc.

Cheers

I purchased my three from Onboard, they always looked after me price wise and ordering stuff in. Haven't been there in a while though.

Depends on the money you want to spend? Onboard and binks are reasonably dear, What budget are you looking at?

Thanks for the info all. Looking at used boards to start. Want to spend around 2k for the 2 boards to get us started.
The online and shipping sounds like the go.

Hi Franny,

If your looking for a second hand board which is always a good start then have a look on the SA SUP Crew Facebook page, people are always listing up their boards for sale and you can usually find a bargain. If theres nothing up at the moment, chuck up a comment on what your looking for and it might get the ball rolling.

Otherwise I would highly recommend Onboard, they are nice people that have helped the local SUP scene grow over the years, I do believe that they are getting some demo boards in stock for people to try before you buy. They would most likely be the type of boards you would be looking for, and to repeat what was mentioned before if you are buying 2 boards and paddles/bags/leggies I'm sure they will look after you.

Lastly, there will be a big demo day coming up on Sun 1st Nov at the Jetty 2 Jetty Classic. Details can be found on the SUP Crew page on Facebook.

Cheers.
