Firstly let me qualify the statement by saying that - I have not ridden every sub 9ft board AND my 8.6 Laguna is insane AND I am not so much making a big claim so much as opening it up for discussion.

OK - I borrowed the new STARBOARD 8.5 X 29.5 yesterday from Greenline Paddle Surf and Starlet GC and I took it out at south palmy late arvo in very very average conditions. 1 to 2ft onshore/sideshore pus ! and that was when it was good. I seriously didn't think I would be able to stand up on the little thing at all but WOW !!! we were totally blown away with the board and both found it mega stable and a real treat to surf. I don't think either of us actually kerplunked at all although we did kook a couple of waves each so I guess that evens it up.

Has anybody else got some experiences with boards sub 9'0 (or a board that is sooo much smaller than their everyday ride) that they would like to share. I am sure many of you have had a dabble with the tiny boards just to see if it was possible. Let me know what you tried and how it went - good or bad please. I know some of you superstars are out there ripping on your sub 9s but want to hear from the average every day punters like me and starlet who are just out there for fun and a challenge and not trying to impress anybody other than ourselves.

Thanks for that. Is the lsd a production board or a custom ? Also do you think its a board for the masses or a very specific board for an experienced paddler.
