Hi I'm new to the supping world and have been trying to do a bit of research on what brand of board to get. As I am just starting out I am after something relatively low in price... I know you get what you pay for.... but at ATM about $1200 is the most I can afford for a package deal. Now, I've heard a fair bit of talk about the Atlantis Halo and the Sunny King boards...both have received good and bad reviews, but I can't find any info about the Billy Budd boards that are on eBay. Was hoping someone could enlighten me with there knowledge of these boards..good and bad reviews welcome. Cheers :)

Mel77 you can get reputable board brands back by retailers across Australia at this price point at $999 for the board.
BIC - from $1049 with free paddle
SUP ATX - from $1199 with free paddle and free delivery Australia wide
NSP - from $1199 with free paddle
Buying from a local store can be a lot more rewarding and assuring than buying from the faceless Ebay.

Good Advice. This comment should be posted somewhere obvious as this question seems to be the most asked question on the forum. I had about the same budget when I started and brought a second hand Oxbow and paddle from AA and have never looked back. I've since moved on to several other boards and the Oxbow is still going strong under the feet of a friend of mine who is also loving it. Support a local store and they will look after you.

Maybe we need a permanent thread - Board buyers guide for beginners.

I would just say... no.... dont buy any of those boards. they are okay..but quite expensive for what you get. My suggestion is to look through the buy and sell section here.... plenty of Naish - Alana or Nalus there for a good price... around $1000. Ebay is notorious for being flooded with fly-by-nite sup board companies......
