Whilst down in Dorset - UK South Coast, I took the opportunity to take the Starboard out for a paddle.
As winter is upon us the air temp was down at 5deg with a nice wind chill to boot, and I had only taken a 3mm suit, no boots and gloves so it was a touch chilly! The kids were equally kitted out.

There were no waves as you can see but we had a good couple of hours messing about and my 11 year tore about the place on my Stewart longboard before a bit of tandem paddling.

Nice to meet John H for a quick beer and a chat in Dorchester the following evening by which time I had thawed out a bit.

bet That helps to keep focus and balance,or did it feel warmer in the water.
not been out on mine for ages, too much work not enough pay, trouble is if you leave it too long and it starts to get cold it take guts to get back in.

You have no idea how much my balance improved in those couple of hours.
Was very warm after a circuit of the harbour - did cool down when 2 up though.
The water was warm when covering my feet but the wind chill was painful when standing on the board.
Will have to get some decent boots to go with my semi drysuit.

You weren't happening to be paddling anywhere near Loch Ness?

That suspicious looking dark patch in the first photo looks a bit like this:

Saddest story I've read all year

We are just entering our boardies season, been in the springy for 2 months.

Seriously though, I love your spirit. Shows how much passion you have for SUP

You cold climate/water people are just the keenest surfers, even with the new wetties/drysuits.
