Hey Guys.
Thinking of getting into SUP, have done a few searches and can't really find an answer to suit my conditions.
Firstly About me
I'm 45 yrs, 83 kg, like to stay fit.
Grew up surfing, water skiing and windsurfing.
Only gave up windsurfing about 2 yrs ago.
Live in Bowen Qld,
Bay conditions Looking at SUP possibly in offshore wind conditions but with onshore swell 1-2 feet.
Swell doesn't break until close to shore.
Also want to SUP in non wind conditions ( flat water)for fitness.
My Questions,
What size board will enable me to catch small rolling ( non breaking swells )
Will I have a lot of trouble paddling back to shore in 20 knt offshore winds winds if I can't get a swell to ride in on.
I have nil SUP experience and don't have to luxury to test boards locally, no shop. But,
I don't want a boat, I pick up water sports pretty quickly and don't want to upgrade in 3 months.
I would guess that smaller boards are better for wave surfing and longer boards for flat cruising.
So in a nut shell, what should I be looking at for small swell, flat water but can still paddle into a stiff breeze.
Thanks for reading and any replies.
Cheers .
