Ever had one of those days where everything seems to go wrong?

Mine started out with a drive from Mona Vale to Manly (just under 20km) checking every beach along the way - passing up some quality breaks in the hope that it will be "even better around the corner".

I ended up at a crowded and very shallow Fairy Bower. Without wanting to drive all the way back home (to where I saw the best waves), I decided to go out.

An hour and half later I paddle in after getting hassled out of all the good sets, getting caught behind on most of the waves that I did manage to get, lacerating both feet (from four separate rendezvous with the rocks) and donating a fin to the reef.

I sure was a sight, hobbling back to my car, leaving bloody footprints on the esplanade whilst carrying my newly created twin fin.

I had the SuckerCam on photo mode - so you can share my "fun".

The calm before the storm, still dry and all is well:

Smashed by a rogue set even before I had caught one. About 1.5 seconds before I kick some barnacles:

Ouch:

Taking out my frustration:

The odd OK one:

Trimming to try and make the section (unsuccessfully). Check the blood on my right foot:

Establishment shot (deceivingly pretty):

At least that guy, gunning it from Winki, got a nice one. I wonder if he likes barnacles too (looks like he might be about to find out):

Finally, a good one:

Same good one:

Last wave. About 1.5 seconds before those boiling rocks in front of me decided they'd really like to borrow my left-hand FG7 (indefinitely). Then I cut my other foot on more barnacles in the impact zone. No problems, thanks, see ya later:

At least I didn't get a parking ticket!

Those green boardies get around, don't they? Not bad going for $9 at Target!

I should've gone out at Southern Manly instead - there were a few SUPs out there and it looked OK. Realsurf.com snapped this guy out there as part of their surf report today:

Looks like he was on a blue 9'3" Ripper too - is that you Goatman?

Nah Casso, not me, I am not a baldy just yet :)

Funnily enough I did surf the Bower on Saturday on my shortboard and had a ball but did manage to hit the bottom about 3 times and get a few nicks.

Judging by the photos that looked like a pretty low tide, you are keen riding it like that on a SUP......good on ya for having a go!!

One day I would love to have a crack at Winki on the Sup for the hell of it, but would have to be a high tide incase you didn't make it!!

Don't you just hate that Casso especially on your new board , so how did the board go as a twin fin ? I been thinking of doing the same on my quad. What were the fins you used.

That was a joke, Rob. I only had one side fin and the centre fin - not really a twin fin. I only caught one wave with it like that and just went straight to come in on - didn't get to see how it "performed".

As it turns out, I've now got my Occy side fins in and even bought an adaptor which lets me put a FCS fin in the centre box. So I've now got a thruster set up with my Occys in - and it goes insane. Just the right amount of hold yet even more manoeuvrable. Sweet.

I've put the centre fin as far back as it will go:

The adaptor is the go , I bought one when I have my 9-2 so I could use the rear fin of my Sunny Sides but I never got a chance to use it.

Post a photo of it so everyone knows what you are talking about , I think alot of stock sups work work great as thrusters , You might as well use the third fin you had to buy it to get the other 2 .

Thats the advantage of Futures over FCS they will split there sets into fronts and rears.

Good stuff Casso , this adaptor allows a FSC fin to go in a normal fin box.Best $25 you can spend.
